ReelTempo vs making reels yourself

If you enjoy editing and have a few hours each week, making your own reels costs nothing but time and gives you full control. If editing is the job that keeps getting skipped, ReelTempo makes the reel from your own footage and you review it before it goes out. Both start with you filming your business.

What doing it yourself involves

Making a reel by hand is a chain of small jobs. You go through your camera roll and pick the clips worth using. You trim each one to the moment that matters, choose a song and line the cuts up with it. Then you write words for the screen, write a caption and post it.

None of that is hard on its own. The cost is that it repeats every time you want to post, and it usually lands on the person who is already busy running the business.

What ReelTempo does instead

You still film, because ReelTempo only uses footage you upload. It never makes up people or scenes. From your videos and photos it finds the moments worth using, cuts a short reel to music, puts words on screen and drafts a caption.

You watch it, change any line that does not sound like you, or swap a shot for another one. Then you post it on Instagram or Facebook. On Starter you download it and post it yourself. On Studio you can post an approved reel with one button and have reels made ahead to a weekly number you choose. Nothing is posted without your approval.

Who should choose doing it yourself

Doing it yourself is a good choice for plenty of businesses. It suits you if:

  • You like editing, and it feels like part of the creative side of your business rather than a chore.
  • You want to build each reel from scratch and decide every cut.
  • You post only now and then, so the time adds up to little.
  • You want to post to TikTok or YouTube as well, which ReelTempo does not do.
  • Your budget for this is zero right now.

Reels you make yourself can feel personal because you made them. If that is you and you have the time, keep going.

Who should choose ReelTempo

ReelTempo suits owners who have footage and want to post regularly, but find the editing never gets done. You keep the decisions that need you, such as what to film and whether a reel goes out. ReelTempo does the cutting and the first draft of the words.

It is not a social media manager. It does not reply to comments, manage messages, take bookings or plan a content calendar. On Studio it shows plays and reach for the reels you post. It does not promise a number of views or visits.

A simple way to decide

Look back at the last month. Count how many reels you meant to post and how many you did. If the gap is small, doing it yourself is working. If the gap is large and the reason is editing time, try ReelTempo with footage you already have and compare the result with what you would have made.
